Georgia's southern region Samtskhe-Javakheti is rich in its historical heritage. Place which is famous for tourists mainly for cave city Vardzia and ski-resort Bakuriani, but there is lot to explore. Starting from Borjomi - Famous mineral resort Borjomi with Russian Romanov's summer residence and most importantly Europe's one of the most impressive pine forests of Borjomi-Kharagauli national park and its hiking routes. Then you will come across Akhaltsikhe with its renovated Rabati castle. From Here you can either continue your way to Vardzia or visit Abastumani resort and then across Goderdzi pass to Adjara. On the way to Vardzia you can see lots of interesting places, for example, Shoreti and Saro in Aspindza. After Vardzia you can visit Javakheti pleatau, its big lakes as well as impressive Tabatskuri lake. Also if interested, you can hike to megalithic fortresses on the top of Javakhetian mountains and then make it your way to lower Kartli, Tsalka district.
